Percy is still quite young and has a long way to come in his training, but he is turning out to be a wonderful dog. He is very affectionate, friendly, sweet, gentle, and intelligent. He is confident, yet submissive and easy to train. He has an excellent off switch and can go from puppy rough-housing with Flora to lying around on the deck like an old hound dog in a few minutes. He loves attention, but is not annoyingly pushy in requesting it, and all around, he's just a good dog.
Percy is medium drive, and is still a bit unsure about the cows, though he gets into the action and helps move them around when the other dogs are working them. He doesn't have the high level of instinct and talent which some of my other dogs have, so he isn't confident in positioning himself just right yet, but when he does make up his mind where he should go and what he should do to move the animals, he follows through with grit, courage, and purpose. This became particularly obvious when we had to move a couple of large piglets, and he decided that he liked moving pigs, and became one of my best workers at the time.
