Good morning! Sorry I didn't get around to posting an update yesterday. I did take pictures yesterday morning, but we left around 9:45 to spend the day at our cousins' farm and didn't get back until 10PM. We had a great day! Anyway... The puppies are all doing well. They are scheduled for their vet checkup this coming Saturday and Cleone's litter should be available for pickup on Monday, as long as everything looks good. Flossie's litter should be available for pickup the next Monday. They are weaned now (though they still try to nurse every chance they get!) and will come with a bag of Sport Dog Food to start them off. This is the brand they are currently eating and I like it a lot. Now for pictures. I was using a different lens, so was able to capture pictures when they were closer to me - like when they attack my skirt... Logan is the most laid-back of the whole pack of puppies. He is gentle and big - a real sweetie! Wentz Jumper, licker, super affectionate. Trixie Quiet, affectionate, likes to chew on fingers. Echo - the hyper puppy genius. (Well, the genius part may be wishful thinking; too early to tell. She's definitely high-drive.) :) Abby Sue, like Logan, is pretty laid-back. She is also one of the biggest puppies in her litter, and may have the longest coat. Fiona: the bossiest female and boldest adventurer. Koda: the alpha male of the whole puppy pack. His favorite pastime is wrestling a sibling or cousin and he's usually one of the first to greet me. Flossie's pups: Regulus was determined to stay right next to me, so I had a hard time getting a picture of him. He's turning out to be one of the mid-sized/ smaller puppies of his litter and is laid-back and sweet. Alfie is developing freckles and, despite his small size, is the most dominant puppy from Flossie's litter. He's hilarious! Antares is more on the watchful side, but has become very friendly. And very handsome! Bailey: the little sweetheart of Flossie's bunch. She is a cutie! *Sorry I only got one picture of her! Sirius: Mr. Quiet, loves to be petted and loved on. Sorry, just one picture of him too! Ripley: she has become one of the most friendly pups and likes rippling water. (Maybe her name has something to do with that?) Still haven't caught her (or any of the others) taking a swim in their pool, but they might if it was hot enough.

The puppies are at their most playful stage now and (praise the Lord!) we finally completed the play yard/ run area so that they have a safe, grassy place to play. They are loving it! I put a pool out there for them (the same one that half of them were born in) but so far they haven't jumped into it - well, except Fiona. She fell in while I was filling it, waded around a little, and jumped out. I am happy to say that Sirius and Regulus have both found families (or been found by them, rather!) so there are no more available puppies at this time. After all these pups go home, I'll be left with just the big dogs and Echo until mid/ late winter. There's not really a whole lot I can say about the puppies that's different from last week. A couple of them are starting to show some freckles (Fiona, maybe Rigel and Antares) so it will be interesting to see how many they get. Rigel definitely has one blue eye - it is quite unique! He is the most outgoing of Flossie's puppies, followed closely by Ripley and Antares, but they have all become friendly, though still much more laid-back than Cleone's. Enjoy the video of my two year-old brother, Frank, playing with them. He enjoyed it and so did they! The full BC pups, on the other hand, are - well, let's just say they are becoming a handful. Those of you who have visited know how much they love shoelaces, and I discovered yesterday that going into the pen with loose hair is definitely not a good idea. When I bent down to pet and play with them, they figured it was a great tug toy. Yikes! They are all so funny to watch and play with. I got a little carried away with the length of the video because they are always doing something funny. I'm kind of on the run right now (or should be) so I'm just going to post all the pictures in a gallery. Click on the photo for the enlarged version and caption. P.S. If you have bought a puppy and have not given me a new name for it yet, please let me know your name choice ASAP so I can call the puppy by its name. Cleone's pups are beginning to respond to individual names and I know Flossie's are not far behind. So unless you want to keep the star names I gave them at birth, tell me your choice! Thank you! Hello! Mama, my sisters, and I went to our grandparents in N. FL for the weekend, our new Mother's Day tradition, and I was really pleased with how my brothers took care of everything for the 36 hours or so that we were gone. The puppies are all doing great. Flossie's are definitely lower key than the pure BC's, but they are beginning to turn playful too. There are still two males available, Sirius and Regulus. Cleone's are in full tilt play mode now, especially Fiona. Enjoy the pictures and video, and the identification challenge at the bottom of the post! I put all the pictures in a gallery to save time. Just click on the picture to enlarge and see captions. Cleone's pups Flossie's pups (3/4 Border Collie, 1/4 Great Pyrenees.) *I apologize for the messy floor in this video. It almost never looks like this and never stays like this, but I thought y'all would like to have a video of your puppies, even if the floor was messy. Just FYI, I cleaned it as soon as I put my camera away. This video is really, really, way too shaky - sorry, folks! I was trying to capture all the cute things the puppies were doing at the same time, and the result is this. :( Anyway, I am going to try to get at least one decent video before pickup, but we'll see if that actually happens. And to finish off, I have a little challenge for you: Can you identify each puppy in these pictures? I took them last Friday evening. Answers are below the gallery in white text; simply highlight to read. Enjoy! First 2 pictures, clockwise from bottom left:
Regulus (red collar), Rigel, Ripley, Alfie, Bailey, Antares Last two pictures, clockwise from bottom left: Echo, Wentz, Koda, Abby, McKinley, Bellatrix, Fiona How did you do? Leave a comment, if you want! The puppies are 4 and 3 weeks old now. They are doing great! Cleone's pups are becoming quite active, as you will see in the (very shaky) video below. Flossie's are also becoming more lively, though they are definitely more laid back than the full BC pups. I got video of them too. All the pictures + videos are from today unless otherwise noted. Koda This little guy is one of the smaller puppies, but that doesn't keep him from being bouncy, happy, and super friendly. He is slightly more vocal than some of the others too. He loves petting and attention - just like all his brothers and sisters. Abby: Is a bit more reserved than some of the others, but is super sweet in her own quiet way. She is not timid; she just doesn't feel the need to come bouncing over and lick me and wag her whole body begging to be petted. She likes the fan a lot and is always ready to play with her siblings. Alfa Like Abby, Alfa seems to be more on the quiet side, but he has plenty of spunk too, when he feels like being frisky. Fiona: Is outgoing, always ready to jump into whatever action is going on, and loves attention. Trixie She might not be as bold as some of her siblings, but she is just as sweet and playful. And she is absolutely gorgeous! (At least, I think so.) :D Wentz Like Trixie, Wentz is a little more reserved, but once he decides to be friendly, he is FRIENDLY. He loves to be petted and loved on and *might* (I hope) be responding to his name a little bit. Echo Sorry, folks, I know I shouldn't do this to you all... But I can't help it. Echo is (naturally) my favorite puppy of the litter, and I think she knows it. She is reminding me of Cleone in her temperament (yippee!) and it looks like she may possibly have 2 blue eyes! (We'll see, it's really too early to tell.) Flossie's pups: Antares is pretty reserved and not overly enthused about petting (except for belly rubs - he loves those.) I have a feeling he may be a one-person type dog, not an outgoing, everybody-in-the-world-is-my-friend type. But I think he will warm up a lot as we handle him more. And his markings are beautiful. Alfie is bouncy, outgoing, and gaining weight fast! Regulus is a big, handsome boy. Bailey is the current smallest pup of the litter, but she is a happy little girl and loves having her belly scratched. Ripley (was Polara) is pretty laid-back too - in fact, they all are at this age. She is getting big, though! Rigel has a lovely curly coat, but it will likely straighten as he gets older. He started off as the biggest, but I think Antares and Regulus have passed him in size now. And here is Sirius. Handsome and quiet - not a whole lot of noticeable character developed yet. Enjoy the video. Sorry it is so long - I combined both litters in the same video then thought I probably should have separated them, but oh well... Enjoy! |
